Our mission is to provide innovative and responsible solutions for the creation of a knowledgeable, skilled and sustainable workforce within a vibrant, mineral-rich resource industry. We facilitate strategic training initiatives and research activities to strengthen the social, economic, and environmental benefits of a robust mining sector.
The Northern Manitoba Mining Academy is adjacent to the Hudbay Minerals mining complex in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada and next door to the University College of the North, Flin Flon Regional Centre.
The Northern Manitoba Mining Academy provides mining and construction-related trades training. We provide our own courses, as well as courses in association with the University College of the North.
The NMMA also provides access to its world-class facilities for field-based undergraduate courses, as well as graduate students and researchers doing field work.
Sitting on the edge of the Precambrian Shield, Flin Flon is at the heart of one of the most prolific mining belts in the world.
The city was founded in 1927 by Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting to extract the large copper and zinc ore resources in the region. Located 756 km northwest of Winnipeg, Flin Flon is the gateway to Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan's scenic north.
We also offer training across Northern Manitoba: we are fully mobile and able to help students and partners from different communities. For more information, please contact us.
